Hand Painted Purse Range

Lovingly created, each hand painted or hand block printed piece is unique in it's theme, colour combination, motifs and trims used. Most of these pieces have been created late into the night, when I feel the most inspired and can work undisturbed.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the process of seeing each piece through, as it unfolds before me. I start with a rough sketch in my note pad for layout, then draw freehand onto the silk, after which I start the fun part of mixing colours, drawn from various inspirations & finally start painting.

Pink Lotus Purse

This is my favourite hand painted purse. The lotus flower, was quite common in India when I was little, in ponds or lakes & almost always in beautiful shades of pink. Hence, I decided to use it as a motif.The strong contrasting colours of emerald green with candy and fuschia pink, offset with a pink satin ribbon, make this an ideal day or night time accessory. Silver Tulip Purse

Hand painted and hand block printed misty grey duppion silk purse, with delicate hand painted metallic silver Tulips and block printed traditional floral vine. I was inspired by the Tulip festival in Melbourne, where I am based, but decided on soft pastel colours, instead of the vibrant hues of Tulips.
Offset with a pale blue satin ribbon and a white duppion silk hand painted top, this purse is a perfect day or night time accessory, for that special occasion. FABRIC - Pure duppion silk. LINING - Blue polycot with a white duppion silk pocket. Magnetic snap closure.

Paisley Block Printed Contemporary Purse

Hand block printed Salmon Pink purse. I love the look of this purse, as it has an effective colour combination of salmon pink with black, that makes it quite contemporary, inspite of it's motifs. The Shiva Parvati Range

This range consists of hand screen printed one off pieces, that I developed during my university years. I chose Goddess Parvati as my primary subject, as she is considered to be a true celebration of Hindu womanhood.

The method in which she lured Lord Shiva into marriage and away from his ascetic world, by performing 'Tapas' or 'Ascetic Austerities', outdoing even the great sages, depicts her determination to accomplish her goal and her passion for the man she loved. She is undoubtedly my favourite Hindu goddess.

I loved every minute of creating these prints, putting in several working hours, that did not seem like work at all......a labour of love instead. I hope you enjoy this series as much as I did.
